T.R.E.E. Staff

Key T.R.E.E. Staff

Sue E. Brown - Director
Sue Brown has been director of New Orleans' Sunship EarthTM program since its inception in 1984. She has assembled a group of dedicated teachers, parents, and community members to develop, sustain, and expand the program into Teaching Responsible Earth Education (T.R.E.E.) a non-profit organization in 1995. As an Associate Staff member of the Institute for Earth Education (IEE), which created the Sunship EarthTM, EarthkeepersTM and Sunship IIITM programs, Sue helps to write, revise and pilot the Institute's programs. Along with the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, Sue developed and delivered T.R.E.E.'s Lakekeepers programs for 5 years. Sue's experience in education, teaching grades four through seven in St. Tammany and Orleans Parish Public Schools, and Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction provide the foundation for her work.

Ann Kungel - Assistant Director/Senior Staff Educator
Ann Kungel joined T.R.E.E. in 2002 and is Assistant Director and Senior Staff Educator for T.R.E.E.'s programs. Prior to coming to T.R.E.E., Ann taught for 6 years for the Archdiocese and beginning in 1994, developed and implemented innovative tutoring programs serving students in both St. Tammany and Orleans Parishes. Ann also brings management and financial experience to T.R.E.E. Before discovering teaching as her life work, she spent 9 years in the financial services industry. Ann holds a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is certified in Adult Education.

Susan Locascio - Business Manager
Choosing to take time out to enjoy her family, Susan joined T.R.E.E. as the Business Manager in 1998 after attending Sunship Earth with her daughter. Previously, Susan held a position in Human Resources in a higher education setting, and holds a Bachelors Degree from Louisiana State University. Although she enjoys the business side of T.R.E.E., Susan comes from a family of educators and loves to be enticed into T.R.E.E.'s Outdoor Classrooms to assist with the Earth Education Programs.

Debi Theobald – Staff Educator
Debi Theobald joined T.R.E.E. as a Staff Educator for the post-Katrina Earthkeepers programs this past spring. She comes to us with a strong background in Administration and Event Planning with her educational focus being Hotel and Restaurant Management for the Hospitality Industry. Initially, Debi attended both the 4th grade session of Earthkeepers and the 5th grade session of Sunship Earth with her daughter before accepting a full-time position with T.R.E.E. She has always been an active participant at her daughter's schools, camps, and after school programs.

T.R.E.E. depends on several other part-time positions and also relies highly on volunteer efforts.
